The Melbourne Dental School is proud of its longstanding record of excellence in health research. Research at the School covers a broad range of scientific endeavours from basic science to clinical studies involving various disciplines including:
- Microbiology
- Immunology
- Cancer cell biology
- Biochemistry & molecular biology
- Chemistry
- Anatomy
- Materials engineering
We do basic and translational research relevant to many aspects of human health, including:
- Understanding how oral microbes can cause both oral and systemic diseases by interfering with the immune system
- Understanding the causes of oral cancer
- Developing novel therapeutic agents and delivery technologies to prevent these diseases or repair damaged tissues

Bachelor of Biomedicine (Honours) | The Bachelor of Biomedicine (Honours) (BH-BMED) is available to Bachelor of Biomedicine graduates or Bachelor of Biomedicine students about to complete their degree at the University of Melbourne. Find out more here. |

Bachelor of Science (Honours) | The Bachelor of Science (Honours) (BH-SCI) is available to Bachelor of Science graduates or Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) students about to complete their degree. Find out more here. |
Bachelor of Oral Health (Honours) | The Bachelor of Oral Health (Honours) (BH-ORHLTH) is available to Bachelor of Oral Health graduates or Bachelor of Oral Health (or equivalent) students about to complete their degree. Find out more here. |
Master of Biomedical Science | The Master of Biomedical Science (MC-BMEDSC) is available as an alternative to the Honours to PhD pathway. Find out more here. |
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
High-achieving students will be considered for the Noel Arthur Twiss Scholarship ($5,000) upon application, and after the closing dates .
