The Melbourne Dental School is proud of its longstanding record of excellence in health research. Research at the School covers a broad range of scientific endeavours from basic science to clinical studies involving various disciplines including:

  • Microbiology
  • Immunology
  • Cancer cell biology
  • Biochemistry & molecular biology
  • Chemistry
  • Anatomy
  • Materials engineering

We do basic and translational research relevant to many aspects of human health, including:

  • Understanding how oral microbes can cause both oral and systemic diseases by interfering with the immune system
  • Understanding the causes of oral cancer
  • Developing novel therapeutic agents and delivery technologies to prevent these diseases or repair damaged tissues

ELIGIBILITY

Bachelor of Biomedicine (Honours)The Bachelor of Biomedicine (Honours) (BH-BMED) is available to Bachelor of Biomedicine graduates or Bachelor of Biomedicine students about to complete their degree at the University of Melbourne. Find out more here.
Bachelor of Science (Honours)The Bachelor of Science (Honours) (BH-SCI) is available to Bachelor of Science graduates or Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) students about to complete their degree. Find out more here.
Bachelor of Oral Health (Honours)The Bachelor of Oral Health (Honours) (BH-ORHLTH) is available to Bachelor of Oral Health graduates or Bachelor of Oral Health (or equivalent) students about to complete their degree. Find out more here.
