PhD Student Ananya Padmakumar Wins Best Poster Award at BacPath 2024

We are delighted to announce that PhD student Ananya Padmakumar has received the highly prestigious Best Poster Award for her poster, titled "Hidden Geometry of Subgingival Microbiota from Periodontal Patients," at the BacPath 2024 conference, held at Cypress Lakes in New South Wales from 11th to 14th November.

Ananya Poster Winner BacPath 2024

Reflecting on the win, Ananya shared, "My poster showcases our work using Fluorescence In Situ Hybridisation (FISH) with spectral imaging to analyse the spatial organisation of microbial communities in subgingival plaque. We identified distinct microbial assemblages that shed light on their role in disease processes, offering new insights for targeted periodontal treatments."
