MDHS Canada Recruitment Trip

The Head of School and School Manager travelled to Canada and introduced Melbourne Dental School to Canadian Students.

In early October our Head of School and School Manager travelled to Canada with a group from the Faculty including our Dean, Prof Jane Gunn, to visit a number of Canadian universities to speak with prospective students.

Our rather exhausting schedule saw us presenting to students at the University of Toronto, University of Calgary, Western University and University of British Columbia, over 5 days. It was an absolute delight to meet with students considering the Melbourne Dental School for their dental degree, to answer their questions about the School and life in Australia, as well as to hear from some of our alumni about their experiences.

During the trip we met with UBC Faculty of Dentistry staff and took a tour of their facilities, and also had lunch with Geoffrey Cummings, who has recently donated $250m the the University to establish The Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics. A tour of the Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary resulted in some exciting potential research linkages between our two institutions. A very worthwhile whirlwind trip!
