Dr. Tami Yap Secures $40K Grant for AI-Assisted Oral Cancer Screening Project

Dr. Tami Yap has been awarded a $40,000 MDHS Innovation Seed Grant for her project, "Integrated AI Assistance in Community Oral Cancer Screening." The project focuses on developing MouthMap™, an AI-assisted, web-based diagnostic tool for oral cancer screening.

This significant achievement reflects the project's innovative approach in combining AI with oral health. Collaborating with Dr. Rishi Ramani, Prof. Michael McCullough, and global experts Prof. Falk Schwendick and Dr. Julia Schwaerzler from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU), the project aims to enhance early detection and treatment of oral cancer.

The grant, awarded in a competitive field of 53 applications with only 10 funded, highlights the project's potential impact in advancing oral healthcare.
