Dr Stephanie Shields Awarded First Place at MDHS Graduate Research Conference 2023
The University of Melbourne recently celebrated academic excellence and innovative research at the 'Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences (MDHS) Graduate Research Conference 2023'. Held from November 22 to 23, the conference spotlighted the extraordinary work of postgraduate researchers across multiple disciplines within the faculty.

Highlighting the event was Dr. Stephanie Shields, who won first place in the 'Lightening Oral in the Child, Women and Reproductive Health theme.' Her presentation, titled “The Prevalence and Impact of Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation in Children Attending Specialist Paediatric Dental Services in Australia,” offered valuable insights into paediatric dental health within the challenging format of a '3 Minute Thesis' style competition, where participants had only three minutes to effectively showcase their research.
Dr. Shields, having recently completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Paediatric Dentistry, is now furthering her research through a PhD.
