Melbourne Dental School and the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences boast a rich history of successful commercialisation, spin-outs, and robust industry engagement within the dental products domain. This includes innovations such as Drugs4Dent®, a digital tool now licensed for use across Australia and New Zealand that supports dentists with safe, evidence-based prescribing through clinical guidance, drug interaction checks, and dosage calculations. These efforts underscore the impactful convergence of academia and industry in advancing dental health care.

DentAlliance
DentAlliance is a collaboration of four prestigious dental schools (The University of Melbourne, King's College London, University of North Carolina, and the National University of Singapore) with each bringing their world-leading expertise to enhance professional practice in dentistry. Together, we present programs that delivers global insights into contemporary trends in clinical dentistry and future perspectives.
Programs feature engaging content, practical case studies, hands-on training, and clinical insights from a range of experts. Examine the latest in emerging trends and innovations in the dentistry, alongside topical discussion and live Q&As.
New programs are under development with our partner universities for delivery in 2026.

Established in 1904 The Melbourne Dental School is one of Australia’s leading oral health research centres. With over 60 researchers and research higher degree students, The Melbourne Dental School aims to be world leaders in the discovery and development of the next generation of preventives, therapeutics, vaccines, and diagnostics for oral diseases.
The School boasts state-of-the-art facilities in our three clinical and research laboratory buildings. Our research primarily targets prevention and cures for infectious, inflammatory, and immune diseases, with a focus on translational research that has a positive impact on global human health.
We engage and collaborate with other research institutes, industry, and governments from across the globe, giving us significant research capacity to address significant health issues and research questions. The School’s vibrant research environment and extensive collaborations provide exceptional postgraduate research higher degree opportunities. We have an exceptional track record of translating research to the clinic and to policy.
The Melbourne Dental School is situated in The University of Melbourne’s Parkville Campus in the Melbourne Biomedical Research Precinct, Australia’s, and one of the world’s, leading biomedical precincts. Comprising over 40 hospitals, research, teaching and biotechnology institutes and organisations collocated just to the north of Melbourne’s CBD, the Melbourne Biomedical Research Precinct provides the Melbourne Dental School with unprecedented access to the very latest research technologies and some of the best biomedical researchers in the world.
